[German Version] (Arab.), the direction for prayer in Islam, based on prescriptions in the Qurʾān (sura 2:144), towards the sacred Kaʿba in Mecca, though for a short time the direction was towards Jerusalem (immediately after the Hiğra [Islam] in Medina).
