More and more reports emerge each year regarding so-called “cancer villages.” The growing number and visibility of these afflicted places points to the significance and scope of the problem. In most places in China, cancer could be caused by many factors: chemicals on or in food, poor diet, and exposure to various airborne or waterborne poisons. But cancer villages share something in common: they are located in heavily polluted places.
