In mid-2012, a progressive electricity pricing scheme for residential use was implemented nationwide to curb wasteful electricity use and achieve household energy-saving through price leverage. Considering the rise in household costs, a relatively modest pricing scheme was adopted, hence the not-so-obvious leverage effect. However, the establishment of the pricing framework has left room for further adjustments.
