1.1 Emission Reduction of Major Pollutants

The goal of reducing the total amount of major pollutants for the year 2012, compared with 2011, is to reduce the discharge of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and sulfur dioxide by 2%, ammonia nitrogen by 1.5%, and to achieve a zero increase of nitrogen oxide.

In 2012, the total discharge of COD nationwide is 24.237 million t, down 3.05% from the previous year; ammonia nitrogen 2.536 million t, down 2.62%…
