Commentary

Account texts are probably the single most abundantly attested genre in Sumerian, and certainly in neo-Sumerian. They reflect an economy largely managed by the state. But occasionally they reveal, if only incidentally, details of other aspects of daily life, including ritual belief and practice, as in the following text.
