Abraham Botbol Hachuel, Venezuelan writer, economist, insurer, poet, and journalist, was born (no date available) in the Spanish-ruled port of Ceuta on the Mediterranean coast of Morocco. His family moved to nearby Tetouan while he was still an infant, and that is where he grew up and spent most of his youth. After earning a graduate degree in economics from the University of Geneva, he moved to Caracas in Venezuela. There he soon became a well-known leader of the Jewish community.
