c. 1410/1420-c. 1449. Italian. Tobia Borghi was born in Verona in the second decade of the 15th century. In 1432, he was in Ferrara at the school of Guarino Veronese where he soon became one of Veronese's favorite pupils. By 1438, Borghi had already earned his doctorate in jurisprudence. In Ferrara, he had the opportunity to meet and get acquainted with some of the most important humanists of the time, such as Tito Vespasiano Strozzi, Francesco Barbaro, and others.
