ca 1487-1531. Switzerland. A Reformation chronicler, generally sceptical of the new ideas.

Born in Brugg, Carpentarius was first a wandering scholar, then from 1496 in school in Schaffhausen, from 1499 in the school of the cathedral of Strasbourg, and from 1500 in the School of St. Peter in Basel.
