14th century. Italy. Lost Florentine annals in Italian vernacular which can be reconstructed from the later tradition. A major source for the history of Florence between 1080 and 1270. In 1872 Scheffer-Boischorst pointed out a number of similarities in the surviving Florentine chronicles which led him to deduce a common lost source he called Gesta Florentinorum (Deeds of the Florentines) following Ptolemy of Lucca, who mentioned the Gesta et Acta Florentinorum (Deeds and Acts of the Florentines) as his primary source for information on Florence.
