d. 1469. Germany. Sebastian Ilsung was an Augsburg patrician who appears to have served Emperor Frederick III and other patrons in diplomatic missions.

The narration of the pilgrimage he made in 1446 from Augsburg to Santiago de Compostela survives in two witnesses: a 15th-century manuscript (British Library, Ms. Add. 14236, 10 folios) offering only the second half of the text, illustrated with nine images, along with twenty empty coats of arms and names of patrician families from Augsburg; and a very deficient edition from 1793 reproduc…
