[Benvenutus de Imola]

late 1330s-1387/88. Italy. Rambaldis was a commentator on classical and modern authors, and author of works about Roman history. Official documents and personal letters from the 14th century record his name as Magister Benvenutus quondam Compagni quondam Anchibenis, or simply Benvenutus de Imola. The first historical evidence of the family name, Rambaldi, emerges after his death in an official document found in Bologna and dated 1398.
