12th-13th century. Austria. Presumed author of a Latin chronicle known variously as the Chronicon Austriacum or the Chronicon Vatzonis. Vatzo was probably a member of the Viennese city council; he should not be confused (as older scholarship did) with a former mayor of Vienna of the same name, who for political reasons could not have been an author of the chronicle.
