On his death in 1959, Felix Jacoby left incomplete the original plan for his massive and now standard edition and commentary, Die Fragmente der griechischen Historiker. Jacoby had managed to complete the first three parts out of the six he had planned, namely (I) Genealogy and Mythography, (II) Zeitgeschichte (Jacoby’s idiosyncratic term for the most prominent genre, viz. political-military history), and (III) Horography and Ethnography: together 17 sizable volumes, dealing with 856 consecutively numbered authors, published between 1923 and 19581.
