1 [16c] Ordered by Ahmad Shah to conquer and occupy the region this side (south and west) of the Oxus River, the wazir departed Herat. Ahmad Shah himself returned to Qandahar. Bypassing Marw, Shah Wali Khan subjugated Maymanah, Andkhud, Shibarghan, Balkh, and Bamyan, marching as far as Badakhshan and in each of these regions appointed either an Afghan or Uzbek governor.
