1. Old Testament. Two main sources determined the development of the question of truth in the philosophy of the West. One was the ОТ, the other was Greek philosophy. The ОТ word for “truth” (אֳמֶת) really means to be firm, reliable, faithful. When Yahweh’s ’emeth is spoken of, it means the divine will to perpetuate his favour.
