[German Version] The Poimandres (Gk “shepherd of men”) is the first tractate of the Corpus Hermeticum (Hermeticism), dating from the mid-2nd century ce. Its primary themes are cosmogony and anthropogeny, the fall of the primordial man in the natural world and the doctrine of salvation. The tractate concludes with a prayer. In contrast to the other Hermetic writings, the Poimandres makes no mention of euhemerized (Euhemerism) Egyptian gods.
