, Aḥmad, s̲h̲aik̲h̲ of the Ṣūfīs, set up in Spain about 1140 as a Mahdī and took possession of Mertola and other places (1144). He was then delivered up by his followers to the Almohads and pardoned by ʿAbd al-Muʾmin. He lived for a time at the court of these rulers till one of his former followers murdered him.
