Textual History of the Bible

Get access Subject: Biblical Studies and Early Christianity
Edited by: Armin Lange (General Editor), Emanuel Tov, Matthias Henze, Frank Feder, and Russell E. Fuller

The Textual History of the Bible Online is unique in providing, for the first time, a cross-searchable platform which will contain all available information regarding the textual history, textual character, translation techniques, manuscripts, and the importance of each textual witness for each book of the Hebrew Bible, including its deutero-canonical scriptures. In addition, it includes articles on the history of research, the editorial histories of the Hebrew Bible, as well as other aspects of text-critical research and its auxiliary fields, such as papyrology, codicology, and linguistics.

Please note: Articles may appear online before the print edition. With few exceptions, the content of these entries is final. Some articles will still receive light copy editing. For more information about The Textual History of the Bible Online see Brill.com

Updating policy

In order not to add to the editors’ workload, it has been decided not to take on new versions of articles published in print until completion of volume 4.

Corrections, however, are included in the online edition. In multi-tome volumes, a list of corrections is included in the last volume (e.g. vol. 1C contains corrections to vol. 1A and 1B).

Citing the THB

For citing the THB (printed edition) in another publication, we suggest to include the context of a section (its “path”), e.g.:

R. T. Fuller, “9.2.3 Minor Prophets: Ancient Hebrew Texts: Other Texts,” in Textual History of the Bible, vol. 1: The Hebrew Bible, part 1b: Pentateuch, Former and Latter Prophets (eds. A. Lange and E. Tov; Leiden: Brill, 2016), 611–613

Instead of just: R. T. Fuller, “9.2.3 Other Texts,” in [etc.].

For citation from the online edition use "cite this page" below the article or "export citation" in the right column at beginning of article. Here too, you may want to add the context, e.g.:

    R. T. Fuller, "9.2.3 Minor Prophets: Ancient Hebrew Texts: Other Texts" in Textual History of the Bible, edited by Armin Lange. Accessed January 5, 2017. doi:http://dx.doi.org/10.1163/2452-4107_thb_COM_0009020300.
