More information:

The Plantin Press Online is based on The Plantin Press (1555-1589), a Bibliography of the Works printed and published by Christopher Plantin at Antwerp and Leiden, written by Prof. Dr. Leon Voet, Director of the Plantin-Moretus Museum. The printed introduction to this edition is available here.

The 6 volumes of the bibliography were published in 1981. In 2022 the volumes were scanned, ocr-ed and converted to xml to create the basis for this online publication. Information that has been collected since the publication in 1981 and links to other resources are and will be added. Thus the Plantin Press Online is a growing resource for the titles in the bibliography. Information that is added to the original printed text is presented in green. In case of references to external resources, a ↗↗-string is added with a link to the external resource. This resource is opened in a new browser tab.

The description of the titles follows the structure of the bibliography, Each description of a Work printed by Plantin starts with the number assigned by Voet. If available a second record ID is added, linking to the description of the title in Brocade, the database of the Museum Plantin-Moretus.

Volume VI of the The Plantin Press (1555-1589) contains different indexes. Some of these, such as language or subject information, are added to the separate entries. Others were converted into separate entries in this online edition and can be accessed Through the links below.
