Accordingly, on 24 March 1945 the Government of the United States of America, acting on its own behalf and on that of the other Sponsoring Powers, issued invitations to the other United Nations to send representatives to a Committee of Jurists to meet at Washington on 9 April 1945 in order to prepare a draft of the Statute.
