Resolution 61/262 of 4 April 2007 requested a report from the Secretary-General on options for designing pension schemes for the members of the Court and the ICTY and ICTR.1 In his report, the Secretary-General concluded that ‘it would be inequitable and contrary to fundamental principles espoused by the United Nations if the pensions of retired judges and their dependents were decreased’.2 The Secretary-General noted the conclusions of a report provided by an independent consulting firm:
