Article 50 of the Statute gives the Court power at any time to entrust any individual, body, bureau, commission, or other organization that it may select, with the task of carrying out an enquiry or giving an expert opinion.1 The Permanent Court, which had the same power, used it once, in the last phase of the Chorzów Factory case.2 In 1946 the corresponding provision of Article 57 of the 1936 Rules was revised.
