Article 32, paragraph 2, of the Statute provides that the President shall receive a special annual allowance, and the Vice-President a special allowance for every day on which he or she acts as President. These allowances are to be fixed by the General Assembly. They may not be decreased during the term of office, they are free of all taxation, and are not pensionable.

In 1946 the special allowance of the President was fixed at 15,000 florins, and that of the Vice-President at 100 florin…
