Al-Ḥāj Sīdi Muḥammad b. as-Sālik b. ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān “Faḥfu” b. al-Mukhtār b. al-Ḥabīb was from the Ahl al-Ḥabīb fraction of the Massūma in the Assaba region. He was the head of a famous maḥaẓra that trained a number of scholars, and his influence extended well beyond today’s Mauritania. On his p…
