Bābā Gūr(U) b. al-Ḥājj Muḥammad b. al-Ḥājj al-Amīn Gānū
(84 words)

He evidently lived in the first half of the seventeenth century since his father was one of those who escaped from the massacre of scholars in Timbuktu by soldiery of the Arma in 1593, and his history Durar (var. Jawāhir) al-ḥisān fī akhbār baʿḍ mulūk al-sūdān is quoted in T. al-fattāsh as edited by Ibn al-Mukhtār. Nothing is known of his life, and no copy of his history has yet come to light.
