Biography

Born in Nguick, near Louga, he studied first the Qurʾān, and the Arabic and the Islamic sciences with his father Ḥasan Gaye. More advanced studies were then undertaken with al-ḥājj Mālik Muḥammad al-Hādī Ture in Fass Ture. He then went to Libya in 1972 where he completed a Secondary School certificate and then a B.A. in Arabic at Qaryūnus University in Benghazi. He returned to Senegal in 1979 and…
