The Codex Parisinus Latinus 8093 (9th cent. CE), which forms the first part of a collection of Visigothic poetry, comprises a fragmentary poem in dactylic hexameters entitled Versus Agresti episcopi de fide ad Avitum episcopum in modum facetiae (“Verses by the Bishop Agrestius on Faith to the Bishop Avitus in Pleasant Style”). This fragment contains the 49 initial verses. The length of the proem suggests that a large part of the poem has been lost.
