The expression New Testament is derived from the words of Jesus in the Vulgate translation of Luke 22:20 (Bible, 11: Vulgate). In establishing the Eucharist/Lord’s Supper, Jesus states: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you” (Eucharist).
