Fulgentius (467/468–533 CE) was born into a senatorial Carthaginian family. His grandfather, senator Gordianus, was sent into exile by Genseric when the latter took over power in Africa. Claudius, Gordianus’ son, returned to Africa and reacquired part of the family properties. Claudius settled in Thelepte where his son Fulgentius was born.
