Milevis, placed on the strategic route from Cirta to Sitifis, was part of the territory of Caesar’s supporter P. Sittius, centered on Cirta, during the 40s BCE. Following Sittius’ murder it became one of the four colonies of the so-called Cirtan Confederation, along with Rusicade, Chullu, and Cirta itself.
