Socrates Scholasticus (fl. 5th cent. CE) is the author of an ecclesiastical history written in Greek and covering the period between 306 and 439 CE.
Life and Work
The history is the only known work of Socrates and the sole contemporary source for his life. The historian tells his audience that he was born and educated in Constantinople (Socr.
