In rabbinic literature different terms were used to denote Torah scholars (Law/Decalogue/Torah). They might be called “sages” (ḥakhamim), “disciples of sages” (talmidei ḥakhamin), “sons of sages” (bene hakhamim), Abba (“father”), or rabbi.
