The Gospel of Truth (NHC I,3 and XII,2) is the third text in NHC I and has a fragmentary attestation in Codex XII. The text is likely an exhortatory homily meant to teach hearers why the Savior needed to enter the world, as well as what the Savior reveals about achieving unity, fullness, and rest with the Father (Nag Hammadi Writings). The Gospel of Truth is an important text for contemporary readers’ understanding of early Christian biblical interpretation and intertextuality.
