Albert Marie de Monléon (1937–) was born in Paris, son of a professor of philosophy at the Institut Catholique de Paris. Monléon studied at the Lycée Condorcet and Lycée Louis-le-Grand. He then enrolled in the Institut Catholique. Monléon received his licentiate in theology after completing studies at the Dominican School of Saulchoir at Étiolles. He joined the Dominican Order (1957) and was ordained priest on July 5, 1964.

Monléon became a member of the ecumenical Centre d'études en théologie Istina where he remained involved for twenty years (1968–1988). Bein…
