Doraiswamy Geoffrey Samuel Dhinakaran, generally known as DGS Dhinakaran, was born on July 1, 1935, in a village named Surandai in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, South India. His father Doraiswamy and mother Hepzibah acknowledged him as a gift from God after much prayer, and dedicated him to God’s service. He was infected with polio that made his right leg disabled when he was eighteen months old, but was miraculously healed. His father was eager to get him the best education possible.
