Ulf Ekman (1950–) was born into a working-class family in Gothenburg, Sweden, and grew up without any close contact with churches and the Christian faith, except for being baptized and confirmed in the Church of Sweden. In 1970 he was converted, shortly after his close friend became a Pentecostal after contacting some American Jesus People in Gothenburg.
