The Elim Evangelistic Band was formed by the Welsh evangelist George Jeffreys and six others in Monaghan, Ireland, on January 7, 1915. The minutes of the instituting meeting indicate that the purpose of the new group was to reach “Ireland with the Full Gospel on Pentecostal lines.” Elim’s modus operandi was to hold revival meetings for the purpose of preaching the Full Gospel with “signs following” (e.g. dramatic conversions, Spirit baptisms and divine healings), and to plant churches to disciple new converts and support evangelistic efforts.
