Turkish classical archaeologist. Born 30. 3. 1911 inTulkarem bei Haifa, died 1. 11. 2002 in Ýzmir. Diploma at Istanbul 1931; 1932–1940 studied classical archaeology at Berlin, doctorate there 1940 [1]. Assistant prof. at Ankara 1941; postdoctoral habil. 1946; prof. ord. in classical archaeology Ankara 1949. Lived at İzmir following retirement in 1981.
