German classical archaeologist. Born 14. 10. 1865 in Dresden, died 17. 7. 1937 in Munich. Attended school in Dresden; studied at Leipzig and Munich. 1887 doctorate at Munich; also assistant there. From 1894 outside lecturer, collector and art dealer.
