Born 27. 11. 1906 in Ohlau (Silesia, now Oława, Poland), died 23. 11. 1980 at Ankara (automobile accident). 1926–1928 trained as export merchant; traineeship at London bank; in South Africa 1930–1933. Worked at Dresdner Bank from 1934, initially at Berlin, then Istanbul from 1941. 1970 honorary doctorate from Univ. of Frankfurt am Main.
