Then Gymnasium teacher at Naumburg, Magdeburg, Stettin, Königsberg; 1874 postdoc. habil. in Königsberg. 1876 prof. ext. of classical philology at Kiel; 1881 prof. ord. there; 1892 prof. ord. in Halle.
