Burmannus, Petrus Secundus/Junior. Dutch philologist and Neo-Latin poet. Born Amsterdam 23. 10. 1713 in Amsterdam, died 24. 6. 1778 at Santhorst (Wassenaar). Studied law and classical languages at the Univ. of Utrecht; 1734 doctorate of law. From 1735, prof. of history and rhetoric at Franeker; from 1742 prof. of history and rhetoric at the Athenaeum illustre of Amsterdam.
