French numismatist, bibliophile and composer. Born Amsterdam 21. 4. 1806, died Bry-sur-Marne 17. 5. 1880. School at Paris, musical education at the École royale de chant; 1832–1834 and 1838–1839 stays at Naples. 1859 candidate (surnuméraire) at the Cabinet des médailles der Bibliothèque nationale, 1862 employed there, 1875 librarian there.
