Belgian classical philologist and ancient historian. Born Ixelles 18. 11. 1891, died Liège 11. 2. 1979. Married to the Belgian writer Alexis Curvers from 1932. Studied at the Univ. of Liège 1911–1919. Member of the spy network La Dame Blanche during World War I. Two years studying in Paris from 1919; 1922–1942 prof. of Greek rhetoric at in Institut supérieur des demoiselles Liège (so-called. Institut Braquaval, later the Lycée Léonie de Waha); from 1929 lecturer at the Univ. de Liège; 1940–1961 prof. ord. there.
