Greek classical philologist. Born Athens 17. 11. 1901, died there 20. 3. 1992. Son of the Latin scholar Theophanes K. Studied classical philology at Athens, Vienna, Berlin and Leipzig. 1930–1933 assistant at Univ. of Thessaloniki, 1933–1939 and 1945–1968 prof. there. 1939–1945 prof. at Athens. President of the pedagogical institute at the Univ. of Thessaloniki 1964–1967; rector in 1957 and 1962. Research year at Stockholm 1947.
