Austrian epigraphist and archaeologist. Born Reichenberg (northern Bohemia, now Liberec, Czech Rep.) 13. 10. 1878, died Vienna 13. 12. 1963. School at Reichenberg; 1897 studied classics at Univ. of Vienna. 1899/1900 one year as volunteer with 1st Imperial and Royal Field Rifle Battalion (K.u.k.
