German numismatist. Born Kassel 14. 2. 1913, died Zurich 14. 1. 2001. Studied at Frankfurt am Main, Leipzig and Tartu. Doctorate Tartu 1938, then a lecturer there. Soviet internee from 1941; 1947 emigrated to Switzerland, where he headed the numismatic department of the Bank Leu in Zurich. 1975 member of the board of directors of Bank Leu. Member of various professional organizations. Many honours, e.g. Leo Kadman Prize, Archer M. Hunting…
