German pedagogue and lexicographer. Born 9. 5. 1796 in Benningen am Neckar (as Gottlieb Wilhelm August Friedrich P.), died Stutt-gart 2. 5. 1845. Schooled at Klosterschule Maulbronn; 1813–1818 attended higher seminar at Tübingen. From 1818 Repetent (seminar lecturer) at Urach and from 1820 at Tübingen Seminary. 1822 rector at Biberach; from 1828 prof. at Heilbronn Gymnasium, 1830–1845 prof. of Greek and Latin literature at Stuttgart Gymnasium.
