Latin Ruhnkenius; German-Dutch Humanist. Born Bedlin/Stolp (northern Pomerania) 2. 1. 1723, died Leiden 14. 5. 1798. School from 1739 at Collegium Fridericianum in Königsberg (where he was a school friend of Immanuel Kant). From 1741 studied first theology, then ancient history and Roman antiquities, also Roman law, at Wittenberg; doctorate there 1743.
