Born Pappenberg 26. 6. 1576, died Padua 9. 11. 1649. 1591/92 and 1594/95 studied law and classical philology at Altdorf near Nuremberg, 1592–1594 at Heidelberg, 1595–1597 at Ingolstadt. Converted to Catholicism 1598. From then on, active in religious politics, living at Rome. Periods in various European cities on diplomatic missions for the Emperor.
